Confirmation typically starts in 6th grade and is a three year education time that provides tools for lifelong faith.
Wednesday classes study the Old Testament, the New Testament, and Lutheran Living, each as a primary focus for one year. Teaching is done with the intent to be hands on and interactive so that confirmands experience faith formation and gain ways to see the intersection of their faith in daily life. Our Confirmation youth engage with one another, our pastors, and mentors as resources and companions in faith formation. This year, we have begun a collaboration with Emanuel Lutheran Church and Our Savior’s Lutheran Church to share in Confirmation ministry together: youth, pastors, families, and mentors. What an exciting opportunity to grow in relationship with brothers and sisters in faith around our community!
For 2026-2027, our focus is the New Testament, learning about the stories and ministries of Jesus and his disciples, the Apostle Paul, and the early Church. Our curriculum can be found at:

At Saint John, our Confirmation students assist with worship leadership, engage in service projects, present a project, and participate in summer camp.
